Dealing with the Ambiguities in the BCA from Supawood

How Should We Deal with the Ambiguities in the BCA from Supawood
How Should We Deal with the Ambiguities in the BCA from Supawood

When it comes to ambiguities with regard to building products and materials that apply to fire safety and compliance [in accordance with Building Codes of Australia and Fire Resistance Levels (FRL)], Supawood has a straightforward way of handling it- and that is to not leave anything to chance.

This principle applies to all stages of Supawood products:

  • Designing
  • Manufacturing
  • Supplying fire-resistant panels that are certified by NATA or IANZ fire engineers in accredited laboratories
  • Using fire assessments of our installed systems.

Much of the ambiguity regarding the changes made to the BCA in May 2019 can be traced to unscrupulous suppliers who submit ambiguous or non-compliant fire tests and reports. This resulted in several construction-related problems such as incomplete veracity of fire-resistant compliance, project delays, hidden costs, and client frustration- prompting BCA to tighten its processes.

Supawood believes in integrity and doing things right the first time. As a testament to this, Supawood had always and will continue to only use products, materials, and processes that are proven compliant and fire-safe that have been certified by trusted laboratories such as the NATA or IANZ- accredited fire engineers with proven superior expertise and industry knowledge.
